In the journey of reaching the un-reached Indira Gandhi National Open University has established its Sub-Regional Centre at Rajkot in 2004 to look after the activities of IGNOU in the Saurashtra and Kachchh region of Gujarat .Later, in 2008, it was upgraded to Regional Centre status. Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhanji inaugurated new building of Regional Centre Rajkot on 3rd August, 2023. Regional Centre Rajkot operating from it’s new premises at Kankot Main Road, Off Kalawad Road, Opp. Adarsh Nivasi Boys School, Mota Mava, Rajkot - 360005. The jurisdiction of the Regional Centre Rajkot is Saurashtra and Kachchh region consisting of following districts of Gujarat :
Rajkot, Kachchh, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Botad, Morbi, Devbhoomi-Dwarka, Gir-Somnath, Diu (UT)
The Regional Centre Rajkot looks after all academic and administrative activities pertaining to:
15 Learner Support Centres of Saurashtra, Kachchh and DIU (UT) area in Gujarat.
